Halifax moves up in
league standings following a 2-win week

Anthony Trucking and Stewiacke en route to a perfect week
The Halifax Pepperjacks showed they are a force to be
reckoned with this week in the SFL. The Pepperjacks, who finished first place
in the regular season last year before being ousted in the first round of
playoffs, made a statement with a pair of wins over the 1st and 2nd
place teams respectively. Halifax now moves up one spot into third with a .750
winning percentage just behind Murphy’s Fish and Chips at .800. Next week is an
off-week for the league as a tournament is being hosted on the weekend with
teams invited from New Brunswick and PEI. The schedule will be released early

Halifax Pepperjacks
(9) vs. Carl Anthony Trucking (1)
Halifax (5-2) was able to beat the Charros (6-1) for the
first time this season, Rene D’Entremont threw a complete game two hitter,
while Craig Manuel smashed a grand slam in the second inning. In fact the
Pepperjacks scored all 9 of their runs in the 2nd inning alone,
outside of the rough inning Tim Colburt was solid on the mound. Aaron Harvey
vaulted into the league homerun lead with 5 after hit a solo shot for the
Charros.

(3) vs. Stewiacke River Rats (2)
In what was perhaps the most exciting game all season
Halifax (6-2) edged Stewiacke (4-2) in a thriller. Craig Manuel threw for the
complete game win; Randy Frame was equally impressive in the loss striking out
14 batters.
White Rock Rockies
(5) vs. East Hants Expos (2)
White Rock (3-3) playing its first game in St. Croix was
impressive snapping its two game losing streak with a much needed win over the
Expos (0-6). Justin Schofield recorded the win with 13 strike outs, and Cody
Anthony was solid despite taking the loss, Aaron Rafuse had two key hits to
help pace the Rockies. there was a great crowd on hand for the Rockies first game outside of East Hants.
East Hants Expos (7)
vs. White Rock (5)
The Expos (1-6) picked up the first win of the season with a
win over the Rockies. Jake Hopewell pitched for the complete game win, while
White Rock used four pitchers in relief. Patrick Benedict paced White Rock
offensively with a two run homer.
